With version 5.5 the route planner is tidier. Over the months a lot of buttons and notes were added. Now the important things come first and the rest sits behind a click. Everything stays free and needs no account.
Route planner
- Folders for tours and films: You create folders, also nested (for example "Alps" with "Switzerland" below it), and file your tours in them. There is search and sorting. With an account, the folders follow you to every device.
- Type of riding per section: Clicking the line offers motorway (transfer), country roads and off-road. That way you ride from Basel to Hamburg on the motorway, then on country roads to Poland and go off-road there. Motorway sections do not count towards the tour's curviness.
- A calmer sidebar: Help texts show only the first sentence, the rest sits behind the info sign. Round trip, twistiness slider, "Avoid" and GPX import are in "More options". All boxes start closed and remember how you left them.
- Waypoints: Each row keeps the "⋯" menu (up, down, overnight stay, insert after) and the cross, with larger tap targets for the phone.
- Map: Weather markers show the symbol and temperature, and a click opens place, time and weather. "Report a missing road or pass" is now in the map menu at the spot you click. Line colour and units are in the layers menu.
- Key figures: Distance, riding time and ascent stand large at the top, unpaved, twisty and passes below.
Route Film
- In the editor you can fold line, tip and overlays, title card and timing. Guide, feedback and wishes sit in one menu in the header.
Alpine passes
- Every pass page now answers the questions people search for most: how high the pass is and whether it is open or closed. You see the typical winter months as a rough guide and reported closures with their source, plus the passes nearby. No guarantee, the official source of the country is what counts.
All changes are listed in the news, and the guides are updated. If something is missing or does not work, tell us with "Request a feature" in the route planner or the Route Film.
