When the trail turns soft, the rear starts to dance. For many riders, that's the moment panic sets in. Yet a moving rear in mud is normal – what matters is how calm you stay.

Loose through the mud

  • Weight back: Shifting your weight slightly back takes load off the front wheel.
  • Steady throttle: Smooth, constant throttle keeps the bike moving; abrupt changes unsettle it.
  • Eyes forward: Look to the end of the muddy section, not into the rut in front of you.

Don't fear a dancing rear: that's exactly what we practise in Offroad Mindset. You'll find all the details in my coaching offers.
