After a ride in the rain, your chain has taken a beating: water washes out the lubricant and road grime settles in. If you invest two minutes now, you protect your drivetrain from rust.
After the rain ride
- Clean it roughly: Rinse off dirt with water or chain cleaner – no pressure washer directly on the chain.
- Let it dry: Give the chain some time or ride a few metres to fling off the water.
- Lube it again: Then apply chain spray as described in your owner's manual.
