In tight hairpins, the rear brake is your best friend. Used with feeling, it stabilises the bike at low speed without unsettling the suspension.
The rear brake as a stabiliser
- Drag it lightly: Gentle, even pressure keeps the bike calm.
- Combine it with the clutch: Friction point and brake together give you control at walking pace.
- Practise: The feel can be trained safely on an empty car park.
Riding technique is best deepened on a recognised rider safety course. If tight hairpins make you nervous, you'll find the right mental training here.
