In the wet, every hairpin becomes a mental challenge. There's less grip, road markings and tar strips get slippery – and fear drops your eyes back to the front wheel. Right now, a calm look to the exit matters most.
Hairpins in the rain
- Less lean angle: Go in slower so you can stay more upright.
- Avoid slippery spots: Steer clear of markings, manhole covers and tar when it's safe to do so.
- Keep your eyes up: Even in the wet, the bike follows your eyes – look to the exit.
The riding technique is best deepened on a recognised rider safety course. If riding in the rain blocks you mentally, you'll find the right mental training here.
