Many riders are wary of the front brake – some so much that they brake too timidly in an emergency. Behind this is often a fear of going over the bars or locking the wheel, not a lack of skill.

Building trust

  • Learn the technique: On a recognised rider safety course you experience how much braking force the front brake can safely deliver.
  • Know your ABS: If your bike has ABS, it's worth feeling it intervene once in a controlled setting.
  • Name your fear: What exactly are you afraid of when braking hard? Fears that are put into words can be worked on.

At Ride & Reflect we work on the mental side: trust in your own reaction. More in my coaching offers.
