Cold tyres have much less grip. Give them a few kilometres to warm up before you ask for lean angle. Your tyres are your only connection to the road – two patches the size of a palm.
Developing a feel for grip
- Roll in calmly: The first kilometres with moderate lean.
- Pay attention to feedback: How does the front wheel feel?
- Factor in conditions: Cold, wet and dirt reduce grip further.
Trust in your tyres is trust in yourself. You'll find suitable coaching offers for more calm in the saddle here.
