On a wet road, ABS steps in much earlier than on a dry one. If you've never experienced it, the pulsing in the lever can startle you in an emergency – and you might release the brake at exactly the wrong moment.

Getting to know your ABS

  • Practise in a safe setting: Ideally on a recognised rider safety course on a closed site.
  • Know the feeling: Feel what the ABS intervening is like in the lever and pedal.
  • Stay on the brake: If you know the pulsing is normal, you stay on the brake instead of letting go.

Trust in the technology gives you peace of mind. At Ride & Reflect we work on the mental side – more in my coaching offers.
