A low sun in the morning or evening can blind you for seconds at a time. At the same time, other road users see you less well when the sun is behind you.

Safe in low sun

  • Use a sun visor: A visor in your helmet or tinted glasses helps – flip it up again in tunnels.
  • Adjust your speed: If you're dazzled, slow down until you can see clearly again.
  • Think for others: Expect oncoming drivers to miss you when they're looking into the light.
