In blind hairpins you can't see the exit – a rock, a wall or trees block the view. That's exactly when the temptation is greatest to go in too fast and hope for the best.

Blind hairpins with calm

  • Speed to match your sight: Only ride as fast as lets you stop within the distance you can see.
  • Look as far as possible: Look to the last visible point of the corner and move with it as it opens up.
  • Expect oncoming traffic: Stay on your side, even if the line is tempting.

The riding technique is best deepened on a recognised rider safety course. If blind corners block you mentally, you'll find the right mental training here.
