When the group passes a car, a pull quickly builds: the rider in front overtakes, so you follow. But the gap that worked for them may no longer work for you.

Overtaking in a group

  • Your own decision: Everyone overtakes for themselves – never just follow.
  • Leave space: After overtaking, don't cut in right in front of the car – leave room for the next rider.
  • Stay calm: If you fall behind, you'll catch up at the next junction. A good leader waits.

Group pressure can be trained. On the guided rides we practise how everyone in the group stays composed.
